MASTER IN REGIONAL STUDIES: LATIN AMERICA

Get ready. We will start by studying the Latin American region!

The goal is to improve the process of continuing training for professionals in the areas of: Administration, International Relations and Economics, and the areas of Arts and Culture, as well as related areas.

The Program is flexible and can be carried out intensively or as continuing education, accumulating national and international certifications upon completion of each module.

The Course has two track options:

1) Business, International Relations and Economy, covering the recent history of the region, the consolidation of democratic processes in its countries, the rule of law and the political, economic and business environment. In addition to the environmental issue, as well as international relations within the region and with other countries and blocks.

2) Arte e Cultura, the emphasis is on regional cultures, on their own philosophical, literary and artistic movements, on social relations, diversity, interculturality and gender relations, bringing decolonization and its effects on social, cultural and artistic manifestations.

The student will develop a critical view of regional movements and their global influences; critically examine pre-eminent movements in the region’s social, philosophical, artistic and cultural spheres, demonstrating an ability to establish connections with movements on a global scale.

Subjects and schedule

With a minimum course load of 39 ECTS- 23 American Credits), the curricular dynamics of the Postgraduate Course in Regional Studies Latin America was structured to be developed through the articulation between three modules, a Mission in Latin America (optional, Internship programs (optional) and volunteering (optional), totalizing 60 ECTS-37 American Credits.

Composed of mandatory curricular components that aim to deepen the historical, social and political nature of the region, in addition to teaching concepts and categories that guided the concrete thinking of the knowledge inherent to the construction of Latin American culture.
Composed of optional curricular components, organized into two tracks: Administration, Economics and International Relations and Art and Culture, which aim to articulate the theories presented previously with the reality of the educational processes that permeate the related areas of this course.
Composed of mandatory curricular components that aim to link conceptual knowledge, research and its application in practice, providing the student with a set of information that will promote mental synapses with a focus on the end-of-course work.
Interdisciplinary knowledge applied in practice, through a mission to Latin American countries. Optional: Volunteering + Internship

The program has a hybrid modality, with online and in-person classes, according to FAAP and the country/university chosen by the student.
The Master in Regional Studies Latin America is proposed to promote teaching, initiation into research and extension, training highly prepared professionals, with artistic thinking, critical capacity for their actions and awareness of their responsibilities towards the organizations and towards society, in order to contribute to the economic and social development of the country.
This course will train professionals to act innovatively in different contexts and spaces in Latin America.
The course consists of mandatory and specific subjects about the Latin American region. In addition, it has specific seminars on methodology and language teaching: Spanish and Portuguese. The subjects that make up the course’s curricular matrix follow two tracks: Administration, Economics and IR, and Arts and Culture.
The minimum course load to be awarded with a Postgraduate Degree in Regional Studies Latin America will be concluded in 8 months (39 ECTS). However, student may choose to continue studying for 12 months and include an internship in a partner country in the region (60 ECTS).
At the end of the course, students will be able to participate in the “Mission to the Southern Cone”, initially planned to take place in the following countries: Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay and Chile. As it is understood that the Latin American region is very extensive, the Mission will be carried out by group of countries. The articulating axis of the curricular matrix is made up of the study of Latin American cultures in all their aspects.
