FAAP Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado

Exhibition

Black and white works are featured for the entirely new "B&W - MAB Collection" show that will be inaugurating MAB FAAP' s exhibits season on January 17.

A sample of works dominated by black and white pigments and intermediate shades of gray is distributed on the sidewalls of the exhibition space, which also hosts another new exhibition "Never-ending color: paintings and tapestries by Jacques Douchez " placed in the middle of the museum room. Both exhibits share in particular a curatorial fealty to color.

"B&W - MAB Collection" features 71 works divided into two blocks: one highlighting productions in chronological order, such as drawings by Candido Portinari, Emiliano Di Cavalcanti and Cícero Dias; the other consisting of expressionist tendencies such as Flávio de Carvalho's portraits of women and Marina Caran's powerful Indian ink drawings.

With a predominance of drawing techniques, the exhibition presents the importance of black-and-white in the history of Brazilian art from modernism to the present day.

During the exhibit period, there will be educational visits, talks led by artists and other activities. Our monthly agenda may be viewed here: www.faap.br/museu (look for our Educational Sector).
