May 10th to June 6th, 2005 – The Ulisses Guimarães Center in Brasília.
Curator: Prof Maria Izabel Branco Ribeiro

The exhibition, part of the South America Cupola – Arabian Countries, presents a panoramic vision of the national production, within the Brazilian Art Museum collection, and focuses the works of art produced in the XX Century.

The displayed paintings show how our academic artists, coming from the Fine Arts Academy, followed the European model and eclecticism which they were impregnated.

In artistic and cultural terms, the XX Century started among us when the first claims of artists and intellectual referring to the search of a Brazilian identity and to update the proposals brought by avant-gardes were listened.
