- Brazil Interdisciplinary Perspectives (45 hours- 3 American Credits). A survey of relevant issues and aspects of Brazil and
Brazilian communities:
Brazil in numbers- An overview; the economy and urbanization; development issues and institutions; construction of cultural and ethnic
identities; racism; Brazilian culture, art and music; Brazilian Educational System; Brazilian communities: Religions in Brazil, social
change; social structure and social class; public sector and crime, social control; public and international security; Private sector and
Industrial evolution (quality and productivity); Environment and sustainable development.
- Doing Business in Brazil (45 hours-3 American Credits)
Legal aspects of doing business in Brazil, tax law, intellectual property law, corporate laws, legal entities, tax planning, labor
regulations, Central Bank regulations on foreign investment.
- Human Rights (36 hours- 2 American Credits)
This course aims to analyze the influence of the developments in international relations in the consolidation of human rights´
international protection. In this sense, it discusses human rights theories and the consolidation of regional and international human
rights systems.
- Agreements and Disputes (36 hours- 2 American Credits)
The course objective is to present a variety of issues and problems related to international agreements and disputes for the student to:
(1) understand the dynamics of the legal systems in a decentralized international society, (2) develop the cognitive process of evaluation
of the issues involved in international issues, (3) know the main sources of law and applicable regulations, and (4) understand the major
current issues of modern international law.
