Study Portuguese in Brazil
The Portuguese Courses in FAAP offer the practice of the language in different contexts. Culture, History, Geography, Literature and current themes are part of the offered subjects. Among activities students can find:
- videos on the most famous Brazilian cities;
- texts by renowned authors from Brazilian and Portuguese Literatures;
- commercials and excerpts from TV series and radio;
- remarkable features from the 5 Brazilian regions - (their people, their customs, their popular myths and legends);
- Brazilian songs by renowned singers, as well as our current songs;
- Magazine and newspaper articles on current affairs;
- Festa Junina – annual Brazilian celebration, which takes place in the beginning of the Brazilian winter. – From its typical dishes and beverages to its typical dances.
- practice in Brazilian cooking class – sponsored by the Catering Undergraduate Course of FAAP.
Tours to historical places in São Paulo City are part of our program “Learning in Practice”.

The course certificate gives to the student the right to obtain university credits.*
Minimum required frequency: 75%
Among items for purposes of evaluation, we have:
- Participation in the class
- Performance in the tasks
- Written evaluation
- Oral presentation
Note: * Remember that it is not FAAP’s responsibility to ensure the recognition and use of the disciplines attended by foreign students. This is a decision of your institution. For this reason, we strongly recommend students to request guidance from the International Relations Office of their schools or from a School Adviser, so that the equivalence of disciplines can be verified by them.

| INTENSIVE COURSE – PORTUGUESE I |
For Spanish speakers and students from other nationalities. Placement test required.
*Minimum number of participants to: 6.
Total Course Hours: 100 - 5 weeks
Classes from Monday to Friday - from 1:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

INTENSIVE COURSE – PORTUGUESE I – OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this course, it is expected that the student will have the ability to introduce himself, greet people, talk about himself and others, talk about his routine and ask others about their routines, tell the time, report simple facts in the past time, talk about the weather, make quick comparisons, go shopping using the units of measurement, talk about a future action, make guesses, raise hypotheses, understand and give the directions, communicate, even with little hesitation, in public places, as in a restaurant, at a hotel and at the airport. It is also expected that he will be able to write and understand simple texts, with a predominance of colloquial language.
According to the European Reference Grid for Foreign Languages: B1.
REQUIREMENT FOR REGISTRATION: Written test and interview with the Pedagogical Coordinator. Students who are fluent in Spanish and have never studied Portuguese, do not need to take the test.

For native English speakers origin and students from other nationalities who have the intermediate level of English.
*Minimum number of participants: 5.

EXTENSIVE COURSE – PORTUGUESE II – OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this course, it is expected that the student will have more ability to make assumptions, raise hypotheses, make reports using the passive voice, talk about the various forms of sports and leisure, talk about health problems and medical specialties. To interpret and comment about literary works, chronicles and journalistic texts, with more confidence. It is also expected that he will be able to understand a great deal of programs and movies on TV, with a predominance of colloquial language.
According to the European Reference Grid for Foreign Languages: B1/B2 (depending on the nationality of the student.)

SEMI-INTENSIVO COURSE – PORTUGUESE II - OBJECTIVES:
At the end of this course, it is expected that the student will get the ability to make assumptions, raise hypotheses, make reports using the passive voice, talk about the various forms of sports and leisure, talk about health problems and medical specialties. To interpret and comment about literary works, chronicles and journalistic texts, with more confidence, as well as to write emails and more complex texts, using the basic rules of cohesion and coherence. It is also expected that he will be able to understand a great deal of programs and movies on TV, with a predominance of colloquial language.

REQUIREMENT FOR REGISTRATION: Placement written test and interview with the Pedagogical Coordinator for the Program of Portuguese for Foreigners.
